Dashboard & Navigation
The Operations Dashboard lets you get around the platform and access admin-specific pages and controls.
This is a separate view entirely from the Personal Dashboard - you'll log into this automatically if you have the appropriate permissions.
Dashboard Page
The dashboard page itself is the default view you'll log into for the first time.
Here, we give OPS users an overview of critical items and pending actions to complete, as well as quick access to other areas.
Most cards in the dashboard can be minimised by clicking Collapse, and re-opening with Expand in the top-right corner.
Shortcuts
At the top of the page you'll find a control bar that appears on most pages.
For many data object or record views, this will act as a breadcrumb of nested areas and let you navigate backwards.
On the dashboard (which is the root page), we provide some quick shortcuts to three resources:
-
Base Flight Logs opens a dropdown containing a list of all Locations in your account of the category Operations Base - selecting one takes you to a page that summarises all flight activity for today (you can select previous dates) and lets you quickly add new flight records.
-
Inspect Crew takes you directly to the root Inspect Crew area to manage your users.
-
Operation Base Overview opens FCM's "Megadash", providing a general at-a-glance view of activity at each of your Operation Bases.
Crew on Duty
This card will display a table of all users who have duties rostered on today's date and have been published through the roster.
You can get an overview of duty details, times and totals - as well as rule and qualification legality by hovering over the relevant item.
You can also jump straight to the duty's data entry page with Go to Duty, if you want to make changes.
Duties with Issues
Sometimes, duties will end up breaking your rules or have been completed without the needed qualifications.
In this case, we group this duties and display them in this card separately so you're aware of them.
There's a few ways you can choose to handle these, including selecting Report to manually create a Discretion Report on behalf of the user who owns the duty.
By selecting , you can also choose to edit the duty record directly, confirm the duty manually as being accurate or dismiss the warning entirely.
Discretion Reports to Review
When a report is submitted from the Personal Dashboard for a duty with an overfly, the item will appear in this panel with details of the report's title, the user who has reported the breach, what duty was affected and when the report itself was created.
To handle the report as an OPS user, simply select Review, which opens a modal with more in-depth details about the discretion, the ability to add Operator comments and finally mark the item as reviewed - which will remove it from the panel.
If you want to view all reports, past and present - head over to Disc. Reports in the sidebar.
Check Submissions to Handle
Similarly to Discretion Reports, when a check submission is received from an inividual user, we collect them within this panel on the dashboard.
These items contain information about who submitted which check definition on what date, when the new submission's proposed expiry date will be and any remarks or files attached to the item.
An OPS user can perform three actions here:
-
Modify will direct you to a page where you can make changes to the submission itself - namely the attached files, remarks and proposed expriry.
-
Approve immediately revalidates the check for that user, with the proposed details.
-
Reject will prompt you to add a reason for rejecting the submission, before dismissing the revalidation - meaning another must be submitted.
Pending Roster Requests
This card contains any requests for leave, shift changes or other forms of amendments to your crew's schedule.
These items will present how many days of permitted leave will be used for each users, the date ranges and any relevant remarks from the requesting user.
Requests can be handled through the Roster itself, but you can take a shortcut to the affected dates using View on Roster.
Qualifications Expiring
It's useful to know what needs your attention next when it comes to qualifications - we split these into two panels for Checks and Recency Items.
Each item lets you know about incoming expirations of qualifications for a particular user, and offers some simple controls to set how strict the warning period should be.
You can also select the Expired option to only view items that have already past their expiration date.
By navigating to any user's profile in Inspect Crew, you can see further details about all their qualification statuses and auditable submission histories.
The navigation itself is built of two parts: the sidebar on the left-hand side and the navbar found at the top of every page. We may also refer to these collectively as "the console".
The Navbar
Running left to right, we'll explain what each item or control represents in the top navbar.
Sidebar Toggle
Most pages will load with the sidebar already visible, allowing for fast navigation to other pages.
If you want a bit more horizontal space to view a large table, or display an overview on a bigger screen - you can toggle the sidebar off using the button.
Other pages that require more space by default for more visible controls, like the Roster and Assignments tools, will hide the sidebar when you navigate to them.
To bring it back, simply select the Show sidebar button.
You can swap between either option, in any page, based on your preferences.
Software Information
If you'd like to take a shortcut to the Base Overview "Megadash" screen, you can select the FlightCrewManager logo.
You can identify which dashboard you're looking at based on the coloured tag next to the FCM logo - the Operations dash will simply read OPS.
The number next to this denotes which version of the plaftorm you're currently using (e.g. v26.8.2) with a link directly to our changelogs so you can check in on what's new with the latest updates.
If you want to have a read now, take a look here.
Feedback Portal
The red button will take you to a questionnaire for user feedback, in a new tab.
This will usually be a Google Form, and not associated with your user account (so you can submit responses anonymously).
We will never require any personal data or identifying information, unless you tell us you would like to be contacted about an interview or testimonial.
This option may not always be available, if we're not running a customer feedback campaign at the time.
If you do need to let us know about something urgently, you can always submit a ticket.
Support Tickets
Selecting the button will take you directly to the Submit a Ticket page, here on the knowledge base.
The page won't load any of your user data into the form, so make sure the email you give us to contact is correct and to follow all instructions given.
Release Notes
If you'd like to read up on our newest updates for FCM in even more detail, you can select the button to head to our blog pages, filtered to just FCM updates.
You can also find Release Notes for other products, as well as general updates/announcements from Quantavia.
User Menu
Clicking on your own name and user code in the navbar opens a separate user menu, containing quick shortcuts:
-
Change my password takes you to a page where you can update your user password.
-
Personal Dashboard navigates you to a view where you can update records you own, view notices/messages and much more (if you don't have OPS access, this is where you'll log into by default).
-
Learn to use FCM directs you to this site, straight to the FlightCrewManager portal.
-
Log out unsurprisingly, logs you out of the platform entirely.
If you are logged in as an Overlord, you will see the additional option Learn to use FCM, which takes you to the Operator Settings.
The Sidebar
The sidebar collects all other admin pages you have access to - just click on the page name to navigate there.
If you can't see a page that is referenced by a guide on this site, you may not have the permissions to view it.
If you think you should have access, check your own account by editing your user record - or get in touch with a known admin or Overlord user.
Some pages in the sidebar may also display a number, which denotes how many data objects of that type are present in your operation.
At the bottom of the sidebar, the operation () that you are logged into is visible, as well as how many total users are in the account.
If you are logged in as an Overlord, you will be able to expand this item using the button, which allows you to access Setup & Definitions for the operation.
